Foodie Philanthropy Benefit Helps Stone’s Throw Farm Grow Its Mission

In September 2023, Trish and Jack Stone learned that their passion project was selected as the 2025 nonprofit beneficiary of Fort Worth’s annual Foodie Philanthropy charitable dining event. Nominees move on via the public’s input, and Stone’s Throw Farm received a record amount of votes from ardent fans.

Stone’s Throw grew out of the couple’s desire to create a place where special-needs teens and young adults could work and learn life skills by growing and selling produce and other homemade items such as jams, jellies and pickled goods. They staffed their small farm and market truck with supervised interns who could eventually be hired on as paid employees.

The Stones’ blended family includes a son with autism and another with cystic fibrosis so their mission was personal, too. The Stones’ success and popularity at farmers markets led to the opening of a farmstead store.

After their nomination, the couple helped secure a wide range of restaurants and corporate sponsors to host benefit dinners and raffle items for the February event, which was also the 10-year anniversary of Foodie Philanthropy.

In April, the Stones received a check for $88,400, which they’ll use to expand the store and work program. “There are no words,” says Jack. “We are beyond thankful for something that will change Stone’s Throw for years to come.”
